Faculty and staff at the Center for Science and Mathematics Education promote science and mathematics education in surrounding schools and communities by:

  • Sharing science and mathematics resources and expertise
  • Coordinating formal and informal workshops for teachers and informal education professionals
  • Facilitate science activities at local schools for future student teachers
  • Obtaining external funding for teacher enhancement and science teaching research
  • Promoting participation on the state level in curriculum, certification and teacher performance activities
  • Organizing and hosting events such as state Science Olympiad and regional Science Fair
  • Assisting with field trips to WSU's Ott Planetarium and Museum of Natural Science
  • Reaching out to the local community with programs like Science in the Parks, Science Moms, Taking Science to the Schools (Ottreach)
